Savoy Cocktail of the Week: The Bolo

Last week saw the introduction of fruit to our cocktail, the Bloodhound, which includes mashed up strawberries (but since Savoy cocktails are hardcore…) the larger chunks of which are strained out with the ice after shaking, leaving the beverage with a delightfully fresh essence de fraise—just enough, not too much.

It was pretty delicious and not nearly as fruity as you might think. This may be due to the 4 oz. of alcohol mixed in with what is essentially home-made strawberry juice from only three berries.

The Bloodhound was described by tasters as smooth and very drinkable, more so than some of the harsher Savoy samplings encountered in past weeks.

Plus, it was color-themed pale red for Valentine’s Day.

The Juice of 1/4 Lemon or 1/2 Lime
The Juice of 1/4 Orange
1/2 Wineglass of Bacardi Rum
1 Teaspoonful of Sugar

Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.

How tropical. Maybe it will make winter stop.
