Savoy Cocktail of the Week: The Bijou

Welcome back to our weekly special: the Savoy Cocktail Book Project.

Last week we tried the Bennett Cocktail, which thus far is—I think—my favorite. Gin, lime and some classic bitters—basically delicious before dinner beverage. Bitters make all the difference.

Since the Bennett reminded me of my love of bitters, I have procured some orange bitters for this week’s cocktail, the Bijou.

1/3 Plymouth Gin
1 dash Orange Bitters
1/3 Green Charteuse
1/3 Gancia Italian Vermouth

Mix well with a spoon in a large bar glass; strain into a cocktail glass, add a cherry or an olive, squeeze a peice of lemon peel on top and serve.

So you can see we are getting fancier. Garnishes. Bright colors. Fancy.
