Now, this is not new news by any stretch of the imagination. However, the link to this page came across my way today and I think that it merits taking a moment to salute the ballsy and hilariously self-mocking attitude that inspired the Democratic Party to embrace one of Joe Biden’s most awesome gaffes in the history of Bidenisms.
I love it.
The email being sent out with the link to this contribution pages includes the following:
“P.S. — There are things that are a big deal, like birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game. And then there are things that are a BFD — like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans. So we made a special T-shirt to celebrate this historic victory.”
Political messages aside, that is just fantastic. I applaud New Media Director Natalie Foster and everyone who embraced the BFD. It’s like The BFG, but just a little less kind friendly. Or a little more if you consider all the kids who will never be told they have a pre-existing condition by virtue of being born. Shake it either way.
It’s a BFD. And it’s still funny.
[UPDATE]: Huffington Post article on recent polls agrees: “Most people don’t get worked up over this, because most people aren’t mewling, doe-eyed infants. (57% sounds about right to me, actually.)”
